COPENHAGEN IS THE WORLDS BEST CITY TO VISIT
AT LEAST ACCORDING TO LONELY PLANETS BEST TRAVEL 2019 GUIDE
Copenhagen has been ranked number one, ahead of cities like Shenzhen in China and Novi Sad in Serbia, among the top ten destinations set to captivate travelers’ imaginations. Following close behind are Miami, Kathmandu, Mexico City, Dakar, Seattle, Zadar, and Meknès.
The city is a blend of stunning historical architecture and cutting-edge modern design. From the grandeur of Rosenborg Castle and its picturesque gardens to iconic spots like Nyhavn, Kødbyen, Refshaleøen, and Tivoli, Copenhagen is rich in both history and contemporary charm. In Nørrebro, Jægersborggade offers yet another example of the city’s vibrant character. Castles, churches, and old warehouses stand alongside sleek modern buildings, all sharing the same streets and waterways.
Many of Copenhagen’s older districts are being revitalized, including former industrial areas like the Meatpacking District, now home to trendy restaurants, bars, and art galleries—a dynamic hub perfect for exploring and socializing.
Another remarkable example of urban transformation is Jægersborggade. Once a less desirable part of town, it has been completely revitalized through the tireless efforts of the local community.
Copenhagen’s green initiatives are another highlight, as emphasized by Lonely Planet:
"Copenhagen is an enviable city role model. Bikes rival cars in the inner city, and in summer, the deep blue harbor is clean enough for a refreshing swim," they note.
The unpretentious atmosphere that characterizes the city is maybe another reason that Copenhagen won the prize. Copenhagen is the epitome of "Scandi cool" and deserves to be recognized worldwide, according to Lonely Planet's editor-in-chief Tom Hall.
Lonely Planet's travel list is based on nominations from the publisher's more than 200 travel writers and is then ranked by a panel of judges.

Last year Copenhagen came in first as the best city for Families in 2017:
The index was created by real estate company Homeday. The Nordic capital boasts affordable housing, high levels of safety, and some of the happiest people on Earth. If you want the best life for your family and children, it might help to start learning Danish.
Homeday took 16 factors into account to produce its rankings, including measures for education, housing, safety, unemployment, kid-friendliness, healthcare, and general happiness.
Consistency wins out.
The fact that the top four includes three Nordic countries shouldn't come as a surprise. Many of the factors in Homeday's rankings reward aspects of social welfare that Denmark, Norway, and Sweden have sought to strengthen for decades. Each of the three capital cities routinely appears in other rankings of quality of life, education, and healthcare.
Homeday standardized each metric out of a score of 10, so the highest-performing city in each category became the benchmark. Oslo earned a 10 for happiness, and Stockholm earned a 10 for healthcare.
Copenhagen didn't earn any first place rankings individually; however, it was the consistently high rankings that pushed it to the top. Less-family-friendly cities did poorly because their scores fluctuated from one ranking to the next. Stuttgart received a 10 in the green spaces category but placed 9th due partly to a 3.64 in transportation and 4.18 in kid-friendly airports.
American cities don't appear on Homeday's list inside the top 30. Seattle, Washington placed 31st; Houston, Texas came 35th; and Boston, Massachusetts came 36th. Since the US is only one of four countries without nationally mandated parental leave, all three cities earned a 1 in that category.

COPENHAGEN IS THE BEST CITY FOR SWIMMING ACCORDING TO CNN
A city surrounded by water
A city surrounded by water, Copenhagen is a joy for swimmers, especially as midsummer looms and winter becomes a distant memory.
Amager Beach Parkis an ideal sandy spot for whiling away an afternoon. It's a two-kilometer artificial island that creates a calm lagoon perfect for a paddle.
If leaving the city seems like a chore, the sensational harbor baths at Islands Brygge and Fisketorvet are a winning alternative. Daredevils can try out the diving boards while fitness fanatics can plow out laps in the clean, cool water.

AARHUS
Copenhagen has always been high on the checklist of the world's foodies and fashionistas, but Denmark's second-largest city Aarhus is the overlooked wallflower to its more glamorous Scandinavian cousin. All this, however, could be about to change.
Aarhus was the European Capital of Culture in 2017 and had big plans for the year.
From its redeveloped dock area to its cobbled 14th-century old town streets, Aarhus has reinvented itself as the mini-break capital of northern Europe. Food, culture, and art were all due to get a Danish makeover last year under the Capital of Culture theme of "let's rethink."
"Aarhus 2017 was a creative tour de force with new works, special commissions, premieres, major events, and festivals.
